Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 March, 2017 - Biscarrosse - Europe’s best under-18 surfers will return to France’s Southwest for the second edition of the Junior Pro Biscarrosse from April 28 - May 1, 2017. The inaugural edition witnessed great surfing from the continent’s up-and-coming talents and revealed the potential of excellent conditions on Biscarrosse’s shoreline.
Stop No.2 on the 2017 European Junior Qualifying Series, the Junior Pro Biscarrosse will be an opportunity for surfers to either confirm their form or bounce back, just a short two weeks after the season opener in Portugal.
“With its pristine sandy beaches, Biscarrosse is one of the most sought-after seaside resorts in Aquitaine,” Alain Dudon, Mayor of Biscarrosse stated. “Tourists especially enjoy spending the summer here, but our city has also become a prime destination for all water sports enthusiasts, and particularly surfers of all kinds.”
“Dedicated to the support and promotion of this sport, our town is happy to welcome once again the only French stop on the European professional junior surf tour,” Mr Dudon continued. “On behalf of the city of Biscarrosse, I’d like to wish good luck to all the futur champions coming to compete.”
Last year’s men’s winner Titouan Boyer eventually went on to clinch the coveted European Junior title, confirming the importance of each and every stop on tour. Women’s winner Ariane Ochoa and Boyer both represented their region at the World Junior Championship as well later in 2016.
Both defending champions will be too old to participate this season, leaving the door wide open for a flurry of younger surf talent to swoop in and steal the show.
