Inconsistent 1 - 2 foot waves force another Lay Day in France
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 October, 2016 - A second consecutive consecutive lay day has been called at the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France, Stop No.9 on the 2016 Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT).
Competition is OFF for the day with inconsistent 1 - 2 foot (0.3 - 0.6 metre) surf at plage des Culs Nus in Hossegor.
“There are little tiny waves and offshore conditions but we’re going to be off for the day,” Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Commissioner, said. “What we’re looking at for Wednesday or even Thursday looks way better than what we have now.”
World N°1 John John Florence (HAW) will take on compatriot Keanu Asing (HAW)when competition resumes in the opening semifinal of the Quiksilver Pro France. Another Hawaiian, Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) will take on World N°1 Tyler Wright (AUS) when competition resumes at the Roxy Pro France.
Event organizers will reconvene at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning to assess conditions and make the next call. Surfline, official forecasters for the World Surf League (WSL), are calling for:
Decreasing WNW swell prevails Tuesday as wind remains favorable/offshore. A larger WNW swell is expected to build in for Wednesday and continue into Thursday morning before fading Thursday afternoon and Friday. Favorable/offshore wind will likely continueon Wednesday with some showers.
At this point we expect wind to trend onshore throughThursday afternoon and onshore flow looks likely to continue Fri/Sat at this point.
