Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 August, 2017 - The Australian Longboard Titles saw another day of exciting Open Men's action today as Longboard and Logger divisions tore apart superb two-foot walls at Cabarita Beach.

Perennial longboard standout and local Tweed surfer Dane Pioli (Tweed Heads, NSW) took a double header victory across the Open Men’s Longboard and Logger divisions.

Pioli unleashed a torrent of traditional and high-performance manoeuvres to post a 15.25 heat total in the quarterfinal of the Open Men’s Loggers division and a 15.75 two-wave total in the quarterfinal of the Open Men’s Longboard. Pioli will meet Jason Caldow (Noosa, Qld) William Crowe (Collaroy, NSW) and Ben Johnson (Pottsville, NSW) in the semi-finals.

NSW surfers proceeded to take a clean sweep of victories across the remaining Open Longboard quarterfinals with William Crowe (Collaroy, NSW), Declan Wyton (Annandale, NSW) and Max Weston (Avalon, NSW) all earning a win and sealing a position into the upcoming semi-finals.

The Open Men’s Logger quarterfinals saw interstate competitors Ben Considine (Barwon Heads, Vic) and Clinton Guest (Kawana, Qld) used a combination of style and grace to take victory in their respective heats. Considine and Guest both posted respectable heat totals in excess of 14.75 points to earn themselves a spot into the semi finals. The two aforementioned surfers were joined by Frank Murphy (Angourie, NSW) who took a win in the remaining Open Logger quarterfinal.
