Robbie Page, Jason Livingston, Ben Dickens, Richard Smith, Charlie O'Sullivan, Mike Pimm, Danny Bond all claim titles
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 June, 2017 - The Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard Titles presented by HIF saw its first batch of champions crowned today after all elder age divisions duked it out in clean three-to-four foot waves in an attempt to claim a NSW Longboard Title.
After claiming the Over-50 Mens division at last weekend’s HIF Surfmasters presented by Moby’s Beachside Retreat, Pipeline Master Robbie Page was able to win his second state title in a single week, claiming the Over-35 Men's division; the same title he won last year at Bellambi. Page fired on all cylinders in his opening exchange, performing a healthy mix of giant turns to post 15.4 heat total, which gave him the upper-hand going into his second heat. As a result, Page – alongside all respective finalists – has earned a spot into the NSW Team for the forthcoming Australian Surf Festival in August.
Former NSW and Australian Title holder Jason Livingston (Curl Curl) stacked up another two titles today, claiming the Over-40 and Over-45 Men’s division respectively. Livingston used the powerful peaks to his advantage, nailing section after section with his trademark power turns, posting two final heat totals in excess of 15.66.
Mike Pimm (Casurina) ensured an NSW Longboard title would be heading north to the region that will be hosting the Australian Surf Festival when he took out the Over-60 Men’s division. Pimm put on an excellent display of rail surfing over the duration of the final to post two excellent scores, 9.43 and an 8.33 to give him an impressive 17.76 heat total.
All other results can be found below. The results of the Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard Titles presented by HIF will decide the NSW Team for the upcoming Australian Surf Festival in Tweed Heads in August. Competitors are coming from as far south as Tomakin and as far north as Tweed Heads to enter the event.
The location for the event will be in Port Macquarie with the prime location to be Bonny Hills - however, the exact location will be determined on the day. Please call the event hotline (0458 247 212) after 6:45am every morning of the event.
