Area surfers hit water shortly after encounter...
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 22 March, 2017 - Earlier this week a 30 year old Spanish tourist was attacked by an unknown species of shark while bodyboarding with a group of friends at Killalea State Park in New South Wales Australia.
The attack took place around 6:30 in the evening just before dusk. The surfer, reported to be Gonzalo Mompo Fernandez, was paddling to catch a wave but instead was caught by the shark and suffered small puncture wounds to his butt. The damage was not serious and he did not need to go to the hospital.
Unfazed by the shark attack, surfers were back in the water at the same location the following day.
"The Farm" is a popular surfing spot, located in Killalea State Park, a national surfing reserve in Northern New South Wales.
Out of all of Australia, Northern New South Wales has seen a spike in shark attacks.
It was almost a year ago that local surfer Brett Connellan was attacked nearby, suffering major damage to his leg.
