30 surfers left in global video clip contest
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 July, 2016 - Young Guns Surf, the global digital search for new surfing talents created by Quiksilver, is about to open a new chapter of the competition.
The event had an exciting start this year with more than 1500 entries in Round 1 through Instagram - a 77% increase compared to 2015.
Since then, the field of contenders has been narrowed to 30 surfers – 10 from each category by a jury of three top Quiksilver pro surfers made of Jeremy Flores, Zeke Lau and Mikey Wright.
As from today July 5th until July 15th, longer edits featuring the power, innovation and flow of these 30 young guns are be submitted to the public votes through Quiksilver’s Facebook page.
The event is a digital-to-real-world format organized by Quiksilver and invites any talented surfer aged between 13 and 17 to showcase their skills on a global stage.
This is how it works
① ROUND 1 – INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE – May 3rd to May 31st
Top 30 surfers selection by Quiksilver Pro riders: Mikey Wright, Zeke Lau & Jeremy Flores.
② ROUND 2 – LONGER PLAYS ON YOUTUBE - June 7th to 30th
Top 30 surfers had to submit a longer edit showcasing their skills.
→ ③ ROUND 3 – VOTES ON FACEBOOK – July 5th to 15th
The public together with judges Zeke, Mikey and Jeremy, will qualify the 8 contenders who will proceed to the final stage of Young Guns Surf competition. http://quiksilver.com/younggunssurf
FINAL – REAL ACTION – Early August
Top 8 surfers will go for a 3-day free surf showdown at a secret location to be held in early August, 2016. Real action, real money and the ultimate accolade for any young surfer with dreams of surfing stardom.
