Italo Ferreira suffers ankle injury during freesurf, may miss CT events
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 March, 2017 - Former WSL Rookie of the Year Italo Ferreira will likely miss the next two World Surf League Championship Tour events at Bells Beach and Margaret River due to an ankle injury. The fiery Brazilan suffered a significant injury during a freesurf after the Quik Pro in the famed beachbreak ramps of nearby Duranbah.
"As everyone is aware, last Wednesday, Italo suffered a direct ankle injury," his manager Luiz "Pinga" Campos said in a statement. "After we had completed all the exams and talked with the doctors, it was decided that he will return to Brazil in the next few days to start the recovery procedures."
The news comes on the heels of Ferreira signing on with new sponsors Reef who added him to their surf ambassador program.
