Buell Wetsuits team rider took down major WSL CT Women's players
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 September, 2017 - Buell Surf's newest team rider, 22-year-old, Keely Andrew (Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast, AUS) went on a giant-killing spree on her path to the final of the Swatch Pro Trestles last week.
It was a breakthrough performance for the second year WSL competitor, who took down then-world number one Tyler Wright in round one then comboed Sage Erickson in the quarterfinals followed by a shocking come from behind victory over world title contender Courtney Conlogue in the semis. Keely would eventually finish runner-up to Silvana Lima in the Swatch Pro final.
"t feels amazing and it’s definitely rewarding to reach the final. Knowing that all of the blood, sweat, tears, and sacrifice are worth it," admitted Keely. "I know it’s only one final, and now that I’ve had a taste I want to work even harder."
Keely is currently ranked 11th in the WSL standings and needs to finish the season in the top ten to re-qualify. Since joining the Buell Surf team in July, Keely has steadily climbed the WSL ladder and hopes to break into the top ten when the tour resumes in Portugal on September 27th.
"It's been unreal being a part of the Buell Team," Keely said. "Everyone is just one big family and always supporting each other. To have a company backing me that believes in me and wants me to be myself is awesome! Seeing Ryan and the Buell crew down there at Trestles for my heats, giving me that extra bit of support was super cool."
