Warshaw's exhaustive work on the history of our sport joins the Encyclopedia of Surfing in online form

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 4 January, 2017 - Former Surfer Magazine editor and world-renowned surf scholar Matt Warshaw has launched a digital version of his well-received coffee-table book, The History of Surfing.

Known in the surf world as the authority on all things surf history and theory, Warshaw’s 2010 book joins his other work The Encyclopedia of Surfing as a titled fully offered in digital form. The 500 page History of Surfing took five years of research and writing to complete and tops out at 250,000 words and includes historic photographs from the Surfer Magazine archives.

“The obsessive nature of this endeavor is matched only by the obsessive nature of surfers, who will pore through these pages with passion and opinion,” said publishers Chronicle Books.

The first two chapters of "History" are now online with the rest of the chapters to follow in chronological order during the rest of the year.
