Officials are tracking new swell for Tue/Wed with head-overhead+ sets for Guincho

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 2 October, 2017 - The Cascais Women's Pro and EDP Billabong Pro Cascais have been called OFF with only small surf on offer at Carcavelos and more swell on the way.

“We have been monitoring a new swell expected to push through the afternoon here at Carcavelos but unfortunately it's not showing signs yet so we've decided to call competition OFF for the rest of the day,” Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager said. "We're coming back early tomorrow morning and are hoping to have nice conditions at the main site for potentially both the men and women's events.”

First to compete when competition resumes will be the women's Quarterfinals and the remaining four heats of men's Round 4. Event organizers will reconvene at 7:30 a.m. local time tomorrow morning at Carcavelos to assess conditions and make the next call.

Surfline, official forecaster for the EDP Billabong Cascais 2017 and the Cascais Women’s Pro, are calling for:

Old NW swell is easing on Monday with improved conditions. Tracking new, fun size NW/WNW swell for Tue/Wed with head-overhead+ sets for Guincho and favorable morning wind. Carcavelos picks up Tuesday and offers waist-shoulder high surf on Wednesday morning with good conditions. Fading swell/surf for both Guincho and Carcavelos on Thursday.

The Cascais Women’s Pro runs in conjunction with the Men's QS 10,000 event, the EDP Billabong Pro Cascais 2017.
