Finals Delayed to Sunday at Pro Santa Cruz

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 29 April, 2017 - Santa Cruz, Portugal - Lack of contestable conditions forced event officials to call the Pro Santa Cruz pres. by Oakley OFF for the day in Portugal.

The excellent swell that provided an exciting full day of high-performance surfing Friday unfortunately disappeared overnight, leaving only knee-high surf on offer today.

“We had a little hope that the afternoon push towards a higher tide may bring enough swell but unfortunately conditions have remained insufficient,” Nuno Trigo, WSL Europe said. “Conditions look more favorable on Sunday, so we’ll be back tomorrow morning to crown our Santa Cruz champion!”

When the event resumes, Hiroto Ohhara (JPN) will take on Marco Giorgi (URY) in the opening semifinal. Surfers and event officials will be back at praia da vigia Sunday at 10 a.m for the final call.

UPCOMING PRO SANTA CRUZ PRES. BY OAKLEY SEMIFINALS MATCHUPS:
