Rad Season group explore new travel niche
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 April, 2017 - We've now entered a period in time where outdoor festivals and surfing are crossing paths much more frequently. A couple of entrepreneurs sniffed out a way to make it easier for action festival lovers to jump from the U.S. Open of Surfing to, say, the X-Games or Oktoberfest.
Oli Russell-Cowan and his partner launched a site to book flights, hotels near the event and stay durations all under one company website, the Rad Season.
By following the mantra ‘it’s always the season somewhere’ the crew have opened up a whole new travel niche.
What is Rad Season?
Rad Season is the world’s first one-stop-shop for all your action sports and adventure festival booking needs. We bring everything together under one roof: discover, share, and book tickets to adrenaline-pumping activities and events around the world, and get your travel and accommodation needs wrapped up at the same time! At Rad Season, we also understand the importance of connecting with like-minded rad people, which is why we’ve created the ultimate community to help you find out about and share your next rad adventure (radventure) with. Whether it’s a snowboarding music festival in the Austrian Alps in April, a surf contest in Hawaii in December, or a camel riding race in the Australian outback in July, on RadSeason.com, it’s always the season somewhere.
There are so many travel sites online, why start another one?
Your right, there are a lot of travel sites out there. We saw a gap in the market as nobody was catering specifically for action sports and adventure events. You have to go through so many websites to find what's happening and were cool events are taking place. You then need to research how to get there and then where to stay.
We wanted to take the hard work out of all the planning and have all the information you need on one website.
What surfing events do you book?
We cover all the world tour surfing events along with grassroots events and surfing/music festivals. We are also looking to increase the number of events on the site and partner with more event organisers going forward to get the best event experience for our customers.
What is the most obscure adventure you book?
There are some epic cultural festivals on Rad Season. For example, the Boryeong Mud Festival, which essentially is a giant mud party happening in Korea in July.
What is the most popular adventure you book?
For surfing events I'd have to say the Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach California. The US Open draws a lot of people in from all over America and from around the world. Also, Oktoberfest in Munich Germany. 6 million people attend Oktoberfest which is insane! Although it's not an action sports event it is definitely on the adventurous drinking side of things. Prost!
