Spain to receive latest Wavegarden project near Barcelona
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 February, 2017 - The newest incarnation of the Basque Country’s Wavegarden technology will be in Spain, close to Barcelona. Ripping Magazine said the new pool will open in the coastal town of Montgat and will have a huge lagoon that will be able to pump out 5-foot waves every four seconds.
The cost is expected to be around $10million for construction of the park and opening date is sometime in 2018. The Wavegarden technology is currently used by two facilities in the northern hemisphere, Surf Snowdonia in Wales and NLand Surf Park in Austin Texas.
Online speculation is that the new facility will use the next generation of Wavegarden technology. Instead of a rectangular lake divided in half by a wavepusher, the new park will be triangular in shape and push out an A-Frame peak.
