Sunny Garcia burst onto the scene in 1986, when the Hawaiian won the Gotcha Pro, beating World Champion Tom Carrol at Sandy Beach, Oahu. One of the most prolific professional surfers in history, Garcia still holds the record for most QS wins (22). He would go on to finish in the CT's top ten every year of the 1990s, win 6 Triple Crowns, as well as the 2000 World Title. Garcia's surfing is pure, old school power, the burly regular footer consistently a top performer in waves of consequence. A polarizing figure, Garcia has been widely criticised for his aggressive nature in and out of the water, though those that know him well consider him a very easygoing and kind person. Today, Garcia competes in triathalons, rides motocross, and occasionally dons a jersey in Hawaii and blows people's minds.
