UWL workshop to host surfboard shaper Ellis Ericson

Board Design

Ellis picked up his shaping skills and talent from his father Bruce Ericson, a renowned shaper from the '70s

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 October, 2016 - Ellis Ericson is always on some kind of mission to find epic waves. He’s originally from Byron Australia, but lives now in Bali.  Living in Bali also serves as the perfect testing ground for Ellis to fine-tune his surfboard designs.

Ellis picked up his shaping skills and talent from his father Bruce Ericson, a renown shaper from the 70′s. “I’d always been around shaping surfboards as my father Bruce has always been a shaper. He made my boards and would drill me to fix my own dings, wet sand my board.

But the first board I shaped by myself unassisted was around February 2009.” Ever since Ellis has been working hard to master the traditional art of hand shaping under his own label Sunflower Surfboards, melting modern and classic influences with his shapes and his surfing.
